The new mid-range model in Sony’s projector range will be the VW570ES. ![]() Had I had more time to play with the VW870ES, though, I suspect I’d have been able to improve both of these issues. There’s a remarkable amount of detail in dark areas too, and colors look strong and punchy.īlack levels looked a little greyer than I might ideally have expected, and I was also distracted during fade to blacks by some very obvious manipulation of the image by the dual dynamic contrast system. Its pictures are bright for a projector selling for the happy side of 30,000 Euros, helping it look unusually convincing with HDR by projection standards. That HDR support also includes the broadcast based HLG system as well as the industry standard HDR10 platform, while video processing includes key Sony features such as Enhanced Reality Creation for sharper images and enhanced HD upscaling, plus Motionflow for reducing judder and blur.Īdd in support for anamorphic lenses and an impressively muted running noise of just 24dB, and the VW870ES really does seem to have what it takes to become the next big thing in high-end home cinema.Ī half hour or so play with a VW870ES mostly confirms its high-end credentials. ![]() ![]() Photo: Sonyīoth of the VW870ES’s HDMI inputs are capable of handling full bandwidth 18Gbps video streams, meaning they can accommodate 4K and HDR at up to 60 frames a second. ![]()
